Great ideas come to many people in the shower, and that was absolutely true for the Founder & CEO of All Girl Shave Club, Jessica Principe.
All Girl Shave Club is a subscription service and online store started in 2016. In the first 12 months, the company had blockbuster growth (surpassing the six-figure mark in sales) and now serves customers in all 50 states and Canada.
What started out as a passion project to transform the chore of shaving into a treat, has become a female-focused shaving and grooming business. Ladies who join the club receive high quality, premium razors, coupled with unique, specialty shaving and body products in the mail every other month.
On today’s show, Jessica talks about her company’s rapid growth, secrets to cash flow, and her best tips for women entrepreneurs while juggling a family.
I’m really realistic about the time that it takes to accomplish things, and that helps me stay motivated.” – Jessica Principe
There’s nothing wrong with starting your business while your working full-time, and you don’t want to quit your job too early when you’re not generating enough income.” – Jessica Principe

Home building is long known for being a very male-dominated industry, but my guest today, Sheryl Palmer is the only female CEO in the Top 20 home builders rated by Glassdoor.
Sheryl is the chairman and CEO of Taylor Morrison, a leading national home builder and developer based in Scottsdale, Arizona. With more than 30 years of building experience, she has led Taylor Morrison into the top ranks of America’s largest public home builders. Under Sheryl’s leadership, Taylor Morrison recently became the first home builder to appoint a majority female board of directors.
It is hard to be your best when you’re pretending or trying to be somebody different.” – Sheryl Palmer
As a leader, it really is OK to be humble and vulnerable if that is who you are.” – Sheryl Palmer

FACT: 95% of venture capital is granted to companies where senior leadership does not include any women.
My guest today, Edith Dorsen, along with her partner, got mad and then they got busy taking action to change this statistic.
On today’s show, Edith talks about how she started this business, tips for the best pitch, the most challenging moment in her career so far, and more.
The singular most important thing to execute on a good idea is having a core team around you because no successful company is built on the back of a single individual.” – Edith Dorsen
When you build companies that include a diverse senior leadership, you’re building stronger companies that perform better.” – Edith Dorsen
The decisions need to be weighed properly and probably made more slowly before you make a commitment that takes a long time to unwind if it's not the right one.” – Edith Dorsen

I’ve been secretly ‘stalking’ Janice Bryant Howroyd, Founder & CEO of The Act One Group, for nearly 30 years. Back in the early days of my first business, I wanted to make an extra $500 per month in order to ask my roommate to move out of the loft (true story), so I went on a search for success stories of entrepreneurial women. Janice Bryant Howroyd’s name kept coming up everywhere I looked. Janice took $900 from her mom and turned what is now known as The Act One Group into a billion-dollar company.
“JBH” as she likes to be called, is #39 on the Forbes list of “America’s Richest Self-Made Women,” and in 2014 she was recognized by Black Enterprise as the first black woman to own and operate a billion-dollar company.
Along with several other incredible accolades, JBH received a special invitation from President Barack Obama to be a member of the President’s Board of Advisors on Historically Black Colleges and Universities.
Never compromise yourself personally for who you wish to be professionally.” – Janice Bryant Howroyd
I learned more from my mom and dad, growing up in their home, than I did from any institutions, and I’ve had the advantage of some really incredible opportunities academically.” – Janice Bryant Howroyd

When I started my business, I had no visions of where I wanted my business. I knew where I DIDN’T want to be.” – Janice Bryant Howroyd

There’s a ‘theme’ happening right now among a lot of business owners I talk with and I’m wondering if you might have this ‘theme’ playing out in your business?
June marks the halfway point in the year, which means you’re either celebrating the success of reaching all your goals in the first 180 days or you’re running your fingers through your hair wondering what went wrong AND you may be wondering what you can do to make sure the next 180 days produce the results you want (& deserve).
You are not alone.
Many entrepreneurs find themselves in this position at this time of year but, the ones that work smarter know they need to reach out and get help – – bring on a thinking partner to help them clear the clutter and focus in on exactly what they need to do next in order to accomplish the goals they’ve set for themselves.
That’s why I’m opening up my calendar during July, while I’m in the beautiful, peaceful, mountains of Park City, Utah, to meet with a few women entrepreneurs who understand the importance of getting out of the day-to-day of running their business and retreating in a calm, serene environment that gives them the opportunity to think bigger, more expansive, more strategic about their next moves and desire a ‘thinking' partner to help them along the way.

Grab your earbuds and get ready for one of the most transparent, refreshingly honest (and humorous) interviews you’ll ever listen to. Julie Deane, Founder & CEO of Cambridge Satchel, is funny, witty, clever and clearly quite brilliant.
This is Part One of Two episodes with this dynamo – truly an ALL ACCESS pass into the quick mind and interesting life of this amazing woman.
Julie shows up incredibly raw and transparent as she shares with us how she started her company on less than $1000 and since then, has created the Cambridge Satchel Company with 100 employees and sells her unique handbags in over 120 countries.
Starting as a simple business that would help to make enough money to send her children to private school to avoid her daughter being bullied, Cambridge Satchel Designs are now spotted in the front rows at international fashion weeks and runways. ‘A-list’ stars like Taylor Swift, Alexa Chung, and Lady Gaga love them. Because of her incredible success, Julie was the first woman to win Entrepreneur of the Year for all of Europe, and she has collected the Queen’s Award for Enterprise from Queen Elizabeth herself!
Today’s interview (Part 1) will be about the first seven years of founding and growing The Cambridge Satchel Company from scratch, and evolving it into a $65 million company! Stay tuned for next week’s episode to learn more about Julie’s growth, discoveries, and personal development as an entrepreneur.
When you are the founder, even if you don’t know how things can be done, you still know more about your business than anyone else on the planet.” – Julie Deane
