Yesterday, I shared Critical Moment #1 with you on how you can convert more sales and get new clients fast by simply using the 24 hour response rule.

Critical Moment #2 is just as important.  You have a new client or customer – now what?

Right after the purchase – When your customers have spent money with you, it’s important that they are reassured that they made the right decision, are going to get their money’s worth, and can relax and get excited about what’s in store for them. If you leave them with a gaping hole that doesn’t confirm anything, they’re going to start filling up the empty space with their own emotions, which could be buyer’s remorse, fear, anxiety, dread, guilt.

It’s up to you to reach out and acknowledge them for their time and investment, and remind them why their decision to work with you is going to pay off.

A New Idea, A New Brand, And What’s Next

After I released my first book, “What's Next?: The 7 Steps to Discover Your Big Idea and Create a Wildly Successful Business” in the fall of 2013, I was overcome with a feeling of emptiness. I was living in my body but there should have been a sign around my neck that said “unoccupied.” I had given so much of my creative energy to the writing process for the book. Oddly enough, I was beginning to feel the “What's Next?” question floating around inside my own head.

Here's what I know for sure: I LOVE my business and my clients – Period. I sometimes feel like I'm in a dream and someone is going to wake me up and tell me it's all over, get dressed and report to my cubicle by 9am.

But…something was stirring inside of me…

I knew change was on the horizon. I just didn't know what it was.

Do You Have a Trusted Mentor?Remember Lucy Van Pelt in the comic strip Charlie Brown? I woke this morning thinking about one of her famous lines, “I told you so, you blockhead!” Lucy was known for setting up a psychiatric booth in the neighborhood offering advice to her friends for five cents per person. Clearly she caught the entrepreneurial bug early but I'm not sure I'd want to get my business direction from her. : -) This got me thinking about how women entrepreneurs need to be cautious when seeking advice, coaching and mentoring on their road to success.

When I first had the idea to birth Smart Women Smart Solutions®, something happened that nearly convinced me to hang up my coaching hat before I got started. I was attending a party with my husband and shortly after we arrived, I ran into an old acquaintance. I could hardly contain my excitement about my new business idea. After our initial conversation, I blurted out my new big idea and guess what happened? I'll never forget it. She had this loud, high-pitched laugh that carried across the room and with a flip of the hand, she said as loudly as she could, “Ha! That will never work! Women will never pay for that. That's why we have coffee meetings and girls night out!” She turned on her heel and waltzed away leaving me there with my glass of red wine and a broken spirit. : -(
