Hannah Hong & Mollie Cha – From Best Friends to Business Partners as Co-Founders of Hakuna Brand (N)icecream

Hannah Hong & Mollie Cha on She's Got Moxie with Joy Chudacoff

Light-hearted and full of joy, Hannah Hong and Mollie Cha, co-founders of Hakuna Brands, are the perfect pair to launch a dairy-free (N)ice-cream.

Hannah and Mollie became best friends at UC Berkeley, and along the way, discovered they were both lactose intolerant in their early 20's – which meant that they had to say goodbye to ice cream.

Years later, Hannah and Mollie discovered frozen banana chunks blended with a little almond milk. In that moment it was, and I quote, “Like lightning striking.” It was non-dairy, 100% plant-based, no refined sugar, and delicious! They instantly knew they had to bring this idea to families everywhere.

On today’s show, Hannah and Mollie talk about how they’ve gotten their product into over 400 retail locations, what it is like to be best friends and business partners, the lessons they’ve learned about dealing with imposter syndrome and much more.

Kelly Love – How a Summer “Detox” With Her BFF From College Led to The Start of Branch Basics

August 14, 2019 | By Joy Chudacoff Leave a Comment

When Kelly Love’s college roommate, Allison Evans, started having health problems, which led to lots of medications with little or no relief, Kelly was concerned.

After graduation, Kelly and Allison decided to spend the summer with Allison’s “Aunt Marilee” doing a “detox.” Their eyes were opened wide when they began to learn about the harmful chemicals that people are exposed to everyday. It was during this summer experience, the three of them decided to start Branch Basics – a non-toxic cleaning product company to create a healthy home.

On today’s show, Kelly gets very vulnerable and transparent about her entrepreneurial journey thus far. She talks about what it was like to partner with her college roommate, how the company survived their biggest challenge (they even had to close for a bit), her advice on managing cash flow + more.

January 31, 2018 | By Joy Chudacoff Leave a Comment

Natalie Hampton on She's Got Moxie with Joy Chudacoff

Today’s interview is the shortest interview that I’ve done so far, but it’s probably one of the most important interviews I’ll ever do.

Natalie Hampton is a 17 year-old high school student who’s got more moxie than almost anyone I know.

After suffering several years of death threats, being physically attacked, sitting alone and feeling isolated at lunch, Natalie Hampton got fed up. She created the app, Sit With Us, a digital platform that allows students to have a safe space to enjoy their lunch at school among peers who will be friendly and conversational.

Today, Sit With Us, has over 100,000 downloads in eight countries and has won numerous awards for its success.

On today’s show, Natalie shares how and why she launched her app, what it was like to create the app, and the success of Sit With Us. You’ll be amazed by this 17 year-old’s passion and heart she has put into using her app to create a safe space for kids.

It set a trend as the FIRST protein bar to be gluten-free.

Lizanne went on to create a lifestyle brand and a national market leader. She ultimately sold thinkThin® to Glambia, Inc. in 2016 for $215 million dollars. Wow.
