Jen Cox – The Tie-Dye Ninja & Founder/CEO of Momma Osa

December 1, 2021 | By Joy Chudacoff Leave a Comment

Jen Cox on She's Got Moxie with Joy Chudacoff

Today’s guest Jennifer Cox has been dubbed the Tie-Dye “Ninja” and Denim Wash Specialist. She spent a highly successful 20-year career in corporate America as a Wash Specialist for Abercrombie & Fitch, Mossimo Supply at Target, and other private label denim brands. She’s made & designed clothing for everyone from Nordstroms to Macy’s, Target, and Walmart.

Jen accomplished all of this as a single mother of two sons before being laid off in early 2020. In this episode, she and I discuss the guts it took for her to bet on herself in a big way. She shares her journey into entrepreneurship during the pandemic. Jen is the Founder & CEO of Momma Osa, a company that creates tie-dye kits for Saks Fifth Avenue, Nordstrom’s, Lands’ End, and more. Her kits have been featured on Good Morning America. She shares what led her to cash out her 401k to buy 40,000 masks and the worst advice she was given when she started out on her own.

Listen in as Jen and I talk about the early steps to starting your own business, our favorite growth strategies for entrepreneurs, and why she doesn’t believe entrepreneurs have to focus on one project at a time.

Charlene Simon – The Art of Juggling Soaps, Cosmetics & Cupcakes

April 14, 2021 | By Joy Chudacoff Leave a Comment

Charlene Simon on She's Got Moxie with Joy Chudacoff

She left school at 15 and had her three children by the time she was 20.

Today Charlene Simon is the real definition of a “serial” entrepreneur. She’s the CEO & Founder of three successful brands: Bathhouse Soapery & Caldarium, Fat Bottom Girl’s Cupcakes and Villainess Beauty.

It all started in San Diego in 2000 when Charlene walked into a soap shop that had real, live, breathing goats out back. She was mesmerized. She spent hours in the local library teaching herself the chemistry of soap making.

In 2009 (not a great year for the economy), she remembered her boss saying once, “You have to strike on real estate in a recession.” So she took $700 (all the money she had) and she went for it. She opened her first Bathhouse Soapery & Caldarium.

It’s been a wild ride and one that continues to spiral upward for this straight-talking entrepreneur who makes all her decisions on “feelings.”
