My guest today, Cathy Alessandra, is the real definition of a serial entrepreneur who has started and built several successful businesses to help women and families.

Trade Your To-Do List For a Success List

May 14, 2016 | By Joy Chudacoff Leave a Comment

success-list400When everything feels urgent, everything seems equal. Nothing could be further from the truth. Being “busy” doesn’t necessarily move you closer to reaching your goals. Successful business owners understand you have to work from a clear sense of priority.

The long to-do list can actually lead you away from your goal – not closer to it. Instead of a to-do list, I invite you to start thinking about a success list. A success list is one that purposefully and mindfully has action items and tasks that are created around ONE big goal you envision for the year. Your success list should be short and sweet with items that take you closer to your goal.

Trade Your To-Do List For a Success List in 2015

When everything feels urgent, everything seems equal. Nothing could be further from the truth. Being “busy” doesn’t necessarily move you closer to reaching your goals. Successful business owners understand you have to work from a clear sense of priority.

The long to-do list can actually lead you away from your goal – not closer to it. Instead of a to-do list for 2015, I invite you to start thinking about a success list. A success list is one that purposefully and mindfully has action items and tasks that are created around ONE big goal you envision for the year. Your success list should be short and sweet with items that take you closer to your goal.

As I review all the success I’ve had in my last 20+ years in business, the common theme that runs through the BIG goals I’ve achieved is a narrow focus and concentration on ONE idea. Let me give you an example. When I started my coaching business 10 years ago, I had a single focus to work with two groups of women in my Women’s Success Circles and take them through my signature system on transition.

Do You Have a Trusted Mentor?

May 30, 2014 | By Joy Chudacoff Leave a Comment

Do You Have a Trusted Mentor?Remember Lucy Van Pelt in the comic strip Charlie Brown? I woke this morning thinking about one of her famous lines, “I told you so, you blockhead!” Lucy was known for setting up a psychiatric booth in the neighborhood offering advice to her friends for five cents per person. Clearly she caught the entrepreneurial bug early but I'm not sure I'd want to get my business direction from her. : -) This got me thinking about how women entrepreneurs need to be cautious when seeking advice, coaching and mentoring on their road to success.

When I first had the idea to birth Smart Women Smart Solutions®, something happened that nearly convinced me to hang up my coaching hat before I got started. I was attending a party with my husband and shortly after we arrived, I ran into an old acquaintance. I could hardly contain my excitement about my new business idea. After our initial conversation, I blurted out my new big idea and guess what happened? I'll never forget it. She had this loud, high-pitched laugh that carried across the room and with a flip of the hand, she said as loudly as she could, “Ha! That will never work! Women will never pay for that. That's why we have coffee meetings and girls night out!” She turned on her heel and waltzed away leaving me there with my glass of red wine and a broken spirit. : -(

5 Style Strategies For Success

March 21, 2014 | By Joy Chudacoff Leave a Comment

Young beautiful business woman. Over blue background. One of the top priorities for women entrepreneurs who desire to grow their business is visibility. This is an area I spend considerable time on with my clients – creating a plan for them to get noticed and seen as an expert in their field or industry. Whether it's public speaking, attending events or hosting a workshop, getting out of the office is one of the fastest and most profitable ways to accelerate the success of your business. This is where strategic partnerships are created and the referral process begins to happen.

If you want to be taken seriously and give people the impression that you are the “go to gal” in your industry, it's essential that you show up looking sharp and savvy. When I'm working in my home office, it's hair pulled back, no makeup and Uggs for me but you wouldn't find me at an event looking that way! Whether we like it or not, people form opinions about us early on based on how we show up.

Here are five strategies to consider before you step out to meet and greet new business opportunities:
