How are you? Did you enjoy your July 4th holiday? I had a fantastic time in The Big Apple with my family, parents and sister. It was a busy vacation with a visit to the Statue of Liberty, Ellis Island and Yankee Stadium on July 4th for a baseball game. I was so moved by the Statue of Liberty and Ellis Island. I knew the history, however it was quite emotional to be up close and personal to the stories of what people went through to achieve freedom in their lives.
Interesting fact: Did you know that when Ellis Island officially opened on January 1, 1892, the first passenger registered through the now world-famous immigration station was a 15 year-old girl from Queenstown, Ireland, named Annie Moore. Annie spent 12 days crossing the ocean with her two younger brothers to be re-united with their parents already living in New York. January 1st was also Annie’s birthday.
