Smart Women Create the Right Internal Environment

Last week, I was having a conversation with another smart woman and we found ourselves on a familiar topic to many people with children:  schools and education.  This woman has children in middle school and high school and she was sharing with me that the schools have two tracks in which to receive an education.  As you might imagine, one is perceived as better than the other.  As I reflect on this conversation, I had to smile.  It seems our children are really no different than we are.  We, too, must stay on the “right” track with the “right” environment and the “right” teachers around us if we are to realize our dreams, goals, and ideas.

Last week I shared with you some thoughts on why creating the “right” external environment is essential to leading a meaningful life.  Having a home, office, and relationships that provide harmony will help you create more of what you want in life.

Today, I want to share some ideas with you about your internal environment.  What’s an internal environment?  It’s your internal voice, your authentic self—your core.  As in our home, office, and relationships, we need to clear away the clutter in our own self-talk to allow abundant thoughts to flow into our lives.  We become what we focus on.  If we find ourselves focusing on negative thoughts and judgmental self-talk, we tend to project this into our world and the world around us.

Smart Women Have An Attitude

Last week, the Women’s Club in my community celebrated men and women over the age of 90 by hosting a dinner and entertainment event in their honor. I read about this event in the local paper and was struck by one interview with a woman who was born in 1912 (she’s 96!). Her photo depicted a woman who was attractive, energetic, and happy. When asked what the secret is to living a life of good health, longevity, and happiness, she replied with one simple word: Attitude.

Attitude. It’s a simple word that can take on many meanings. We have all heard the phrase, “she’s got a good attitude about life.” We have also heard the phrases, “she’s got a bad attitude”, or “she needs an attitude adjustment.” The word is thrown out loosely. It’s true that a positive attitude can make a big difference in the outcome of our lives. I happen to think that it takes something more than this to live a life full of energy, passion, and purpose.

My Week Has Been Great!

Wow—what a passionate, rewarding, fun-filled week!

On Sunday night, I attended the 10th Annual Benefit Concert for Women at Risk, at the Avalon, in Hollywood. I had the extreme privilege of listening to the amazing voice of Linda Eder (www.LindaEder.com) who performed, along with her band, the most incredible songs. She and her band gave the gift of their time and talent to this worthy cause. She sang many songs from her new album, “The Other Side of Me” and I rushed home to go online and purchase it for myself. Linda has been following her passion of creating music since she was 19.
