A few people have been asking my team about the hotel where my upcoming MOXIE Retreat is happening on January 20-22, 2016. Rather than try and explain the hotel’s magnificence, I thought I’d take you on a virtual tour and show you this lovely gem located on the shore of the Pacific Ocean. Watch the video below I created just for you.
Email in-box crammed with back & forth communication from your team?
Drowning in piles of paper?
Six months ago, I would have answered yes to both these questions however, I made the decision to move my company to Evernote. This one change has dramatically reduced the number of emails in my in-box from team by more than 50%. Evernote has helped me reduce the paper flow in my office which has given me higher productivity, better efficiency and I’m more creative. Bibi Goldstein of Buying Time LLC came in to teach my team and I how to use this time-saving tool effectively in a way that everyone could understand easily.
I’ve actually told my hubby that if Evernote was a man, he might need to worry – yep, I’ve fallen in love. : -)
Are you following me on Periscope? I’m sharing a lot of great biz tips and strategies over there. @JoyChudacoff
At a recent retreat with the members of my Smart Women SOAR Elite program, they had a chance to “rate” different aspects of their business on a scale of 1-10 with one being “Nope, never heard of it” and a ten being “Nailed it.” Together, we focused on the areas that are essential to wildly thriving business success. As one member commented, “It’s like keeping a scorecard on your business.” The key to long lasting business growth is to evaluate periodically what’s working, what’s not working and course correct so that you can continue to gain momentum and accomplish those bigger goals.
Here are five areas to assess in your business now so that 2015 can be the year you soar to a new level of success:
- Your Vision and Mission – Is your vision and mission on track for the New Year? You can get off track in your business if you’re vision isn’t laser focused. I refer to this sometimes as “BSOS” or “bright shiny object syndrome.” When new opportunities present themselves, the key is to ask yourself if the new opportunity or new idea relates back to your WHY. Will this opportunity get you closer to your goal? Avoid spinning your wheels on things that don’t get results and opt for a solid plan of action.
I’ll make this quick as I bet you’re shopping or traveling to loved ones for the Thanksgiving holiday.
You probably know by now about my MOXIE Retreat. But, chances are you haven’t had the time or taken the time to actually read it or make a decision, since you’re one busy woman. I get it and that’s exactly why I created my MOXIE Retreat. I truly want to help and support busy women entrepreneurs, just like you, transform their businesses so they can enjoy their success and create the lifestyle they want and deserve.
No need to read this email…..unless:
1. You consider yourself a success but you have little time to enjoy life because you’re in overwhelm most of the time. (i.e. you are working too darn hard)
2. You’re not sure what has to be done to increase your profits and eliminate your overwhelm… (but you really want to…ASAP)
3. You know exactly what you have to do but you can’t spare 5 minutes to implement the strategies you know will propel your business forward…(i.e. you are stuck)
There’s one slight shift you can make in your daily habits that could reap BIG rewards. In fact, this habit has been linked to better decision-making, creativity, health and even weight-loss. Do you know what it is? Sleep.
Making a commitment (experts say seven to eight hours is preferable) to sleep can create a dramatic impact in every area of your life. In Arianna Hufffington’s new book, “Thrive“, she shares a study from Harvard Medical School’s Division of Sleep Medicine that lack of sleep impacts mood, ability to focus, creativity and generally affects our mental performance. Mental performance is a top requirement for entrepreneurs!
Ever notice when the topic of sleep comes up, the conversation goes something like this: “I only had four hours of sleep last night – working on a big project.” “I had so much work to do that I just couldn’t get to bed before midnight!” Lack of sleep has become a status symbol. If you get too much, somehow this gets translated into: “She doesn’t have enough to do-she’s not busy enough.” Stop the madness. Move away from this mindset.
Remember Lucy Van Pelt in the comic strip Charlie Brown? I woke this morning thinking about one of her famous lines, “I told you so, you blockhead!” Lucy was known for setting up a psychiatric booth in the neighborhood offering advice to her friends for five cents per person. Clearly she caught the entrepreneurial bug early but I’m not sure I’d want to get my business direction from her. : -) This got me thinking about how women entrepreneurs need to be cautious when seeking advice, coaching and mentoring on their road to success.
When I first had the idea to birth Smart Women Smart Solutions®, something happened that nearly convinced me to hang up my coaching hat before I got started. I was attending a party with my husband and shortly after we arrived, I ran into an old acquaintance. I could hardly contain my excitement about my new business idea. After our initial conversation, I blurted out my new big idea and guess what happened? I’ll never forget it. She had this loud, high-pitched laugh that carried across the room and with a flip of the hand, she said as loudly as she could, “Ha! That will never work! Women will never pay for that. That’s why we have coffee meetings and girls night out!” She turned on her heel and waltzed away leaving me there with my glass of red wine and a broken spirit. : -(
